Prof. Sylvia Mechsner is a consultant at the Department of Gynecology, Charite University Medicine in Berlin, Germany, with expertise in the clinical and surgical management of endometriosis. She leads the Endometriosis Research Unit since 2005. Her research focuses on the investigation of pathogenetic mechanisms of pain including inflammation, neuroimmunmodulation, smooth muscle metaplasia and lymphangiogenesis in endometriosis.

She has been a full professor since 2015. Prof. Mechsner, is widely published with over 90 cited papers and over 200 speaker invitation. She acts as editor and reviewer for a number of well respected medical journals.
